Oekaki BBS is a quite intelligent Java-based drawing applet hooked up to a messageboard system: you draw, you post your drawing immediately, and people comment. Fascinating to play with, and also for seeing what other people draw. There's a certain topical cross-pollination from Smut (which is where I found the link) but some of them are really quite good.

On the geeky side of things, SysInfo for NT is the replacement for Hack-it! that I've been looking for. Take control of your windows, dammit!
