I rediscovered Oasis Magazine, which I first read when I was just coming out. I remember how great it was to read at the time, and I'm glad to see it's still going.
\r\n

There is such a thing as going too far. PHP is currently my best and favourite programming language, simply because I've been using it for so long. But it's a scripting language. Or, it used to be. Now, PHP GTK and PHPmole provide libraries and an IDE, respectively, to produce stand-alone GUI applications for Windows and Linux, written in PHP. Completely superfluous, but also quite cool in a \"it can be done\" sort of way.
\r\n

And, as an interesting mirror to that, there's also Carrot, which turns C++, the language of standalone applications, into a scripting language. *sigh* :-)
\r\n

Yet another cheap online computer parts and supplies retailer in the UK. Always good to have a few on hand, like NovaTech and Morgan Computers.

Thanks to Steve for pointing me to TightVNC, a nifty program that lets you control any computer remotely. TightVNC is an improvement over ordinary VNC in that it uses image compression for better response times. Quite nifty.
