Safari on WindowsJun 12, 2007

Safari on Windows is odd -- likely motivated by an easy port and a desire to boost market share. iPhone web apps are interesting but raise security questions. The new Apple.com is slick but busy, and every clueless CEO will soon be demanding their site look the same.

Sitting inches from a window at 1:30am, watching ducks hunt worms in the rain. Meanwhile: laser cannons, Phoenix browser's chaos-inducing "open all tabs" feature, Microsoft acting like IBM post-antitrust, Nokia's garish phones, a Beckham kidnap plot, and a skateboard for your AIBO. Links ahoy.

Outraged by Russia's use of chemical gas to end the Moscow theater hostage crisis, killing civilians while withholding the antidote from doctors. Putin, what were you thinking? Also, Phoenix browser is simply the best browser ever made.

Buggy BrowsersApr 16, 2002

Buggy browsers drive me crazy. Netscape and Microsoft spent the 90s in a petty tag-inventing arms race, deliberately breaking compatibility and ignoring the W3C, leaving web developers like me stuck building every damn page twice. Business people are insane. Here endeth the bile.

Got a data entry job after two weeks broke on vacation. MSIE is a security disaster, Netscape is garbage, Mozilla shows promise but crawls. The MSIE patch doesn't even fix it, meaning HTML emails can execute arbitrary code. I miss when email viruses were just hoaxes.
